W Ketchup™ Endorses Mitt Romney for President

Eagle Bridge, NY — October 24, 2012 — W Ketchup™ is proud to endorse Mitt Romney for President of the United States. During this campaign season, the two candidates have presented vastly different visions for America. One represents the European, collectivist model. The other proposes returning to America's founding principle that individual liberty is an unalienable right. One leads inevitably to statism and tyranny. The other to freedom and wealth.

In the first debate, Mr. Obama opined why government run healthcare is superior to private enterprise:
And so [private insurance has] higher administrative costs, plus profit on top of that . . .
In Obama's view, profit is the fruit of rent seeking by capitalists, avoidable by the benevolent guardians of government. If removing profit benefits healthcare, then why not in banking, the auto sector, or in all of manufacturing? In fact, Obama has proposed government takeovers for all of the above, not satisfied with the government sector's current 40% share of GDP.

The profitless economic model Obama proposes was tried for seventy years in a place called the Soviet Union. Russians and Eastern Europeans risked machine guns to escape, and the ruinous experiment finally collapsed. Though the central lesson of the 20th century is that the statist economic model cannot work, many leaders nevertheless refuse to recognize limits on their power. It is no surprise that Obama has been endorsed by Vladimir Putin, Hugo Chavez, and the Castro family.

America was not founded on an economic model, but on the moral principle of individual liberty. An emergent property of liberty is the freedom to seek profit through innovation, the gains from which are quickly distributed to the public through competition in a free market. This is why wealth and liberty are inseparable.

Romney is not the perfect candidate. His views on some key issues have evolved over time, suggesting weakness in his political principles. Obamacare was modeled on the Massachusetts takeover of healthcare during Romney's watch. His 59-point economic plan makes no mention of monetary policy, the biggest threat facing the economy.

But, at least Romney understands the basic driver of economic progress. As he has repeated in the debates, government cannot create jobs, it can merely set the conditions in which free individuals choose to expand or contract their businesses.

Beyond the politics, this election contrasts two vastly different personalities. One is a media construction based on idealism: Obama brought a mixture of academics and corrupt Chicago politicians to Washington. The other was forged through experience: Romney promises to fill Washington with those tempered by reality and a bottom line.

Politicians, both Democrat and Republican, always turn left during their stay in Washington. Conservatives must remain organized to publicize and criticize any such movement by a victorious Romney. But, at the very least, a Romney Administration will allow the development of policy to escape the spending and debt that threaten our two-century old democratic experiment.

Americans have a choice. We can follow the familiar, easy, seductive path of decaying moral standards and declining economic wealth and power, or we can once again embrace American exceptionalism through limited government and individual responsibility. We are confident this great country will make the right choice.

We urge our customers to vote on Election Day and also to ensure their friends and family vote as well.
