FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE W Ketchup™ Responds to Mr. Obama
But, in the mid-19th century, a foreign, collectivist ideology spread to these shores from Europe. The dual threats of fascism and communism were not just military but philosophical. Benito Mussolini was correct when he said: “If the 19th century was the century of the individual (for classical liberalism means individualism), you may consider that this is the 'collective' century, and therefore the century of the state.” In 1900 American government expenditures at all levels comprised just 3% of GDP. In 2011 that figure was over 40%. In his most recent State of the Union address, Obama declared: “At a time when too many of our institutions have let us down, [America's soldiers] exceed all expectations. They're not consumed with personal ambition. They don't obsess over their differences. They focus on the mission at hand. They work together. Imagine what we could accomplish if we followed their example.” In 1943, F.A. Hayek warned in his seminal book Road to Serfdom against the fallacy exhibited by Obama: The fashionable phrases about doing for the purposes of peace what we have learned to do for the purposes of war are completely misleading, for it is sensible temporarily to sacrifice freedom in order to make it more secure in the future, but it is quite a different thing to sacrifice liberty permanently in the interests of a planned economy. . . .Obama recently threatened: “We can't wait for an increasingly dysfunctional Congress to do its job. Where they won't act, I will.” Since taking office, Obama has issued 112 executive orders. Daniel Oliver, CEO of W Ketchup, reacted: “Obama's comments and actions should terrify anyone who believes in Western civilization. Thinking of citizens as soldiers in the body politic reflects the movements of Hitler and Mussolini, not the principles of James Madison and George Washington.” In communist countries the state seeks to remove all societal institutions other than the Party itself. The individual's place in society is determined wholly by his relationship to the Party. In fascist countries non-Party institutions are permitted so long as they are completely controlled by the Party, such as trade unions, captured corporations, and ideologically pure universities. One of the most mettlesome institutions for totalitarian states is the church, which is difficult to suppress or control. The separation of church and state is enshrined in the Constitution and has been a core American principle for four centuries. Obama's signature achievement, Obamacare, purposefully contains language that forces religious institutions to support practices abhorrent to Christian faith. In a recent court case, the Obama administration argued that churches must bow before Federal law to determine whom they may employ. W Ketchup™ supports Congressman Walter Jones' recent resolution proposing the impeachment of Obama for committing extra-Constitutional activities. W Ketchup™ reminds members of Congress that they have each sworn to “defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.” W Ketchup™ Chairman Bill Zachary commented: “We must remember that domestic enemies are often more dangerous than foreign ones.” W Ketchup™ was founded to free Americans from the ketchup monopoly, and to allow all Americans to support a ketchup that shares their beliefs.
