W Ketchup Calls on Americans to Replace Congress

Eagle Bridge, NY — October 4, 2010 — In February 2008 the unemployment rate was 5.2%. A Republican Congress passed, and President Bush signed, a $168 billion stimulus measure. A year later the unemployment rate had climbed to 8.9%. A Democratic Congress passed, and President Obama signed, a $787 stimulus package. Vice President Biden heralded the action saying: “It’s about getting the money out in 18 months, to literally dropkick us out of this recession.” In August of 2010, 18 months after the stimulus, unemployment stood at 9.5%.

Democratic House Majority Whip James Clyburn defended the Obama strategy, saying: “We’re not going to save our way out of this recession. We’ve got to spend our way out of this recession, and I think most economists know that.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi added to his defense, claiming: “Unemployment insurance . . . is one of the biggest stimuluses [sic] to our economy. Economists will tell you . . . it is job creating; it creates jobs faster than almost any other initiative you can name.”

W Ketchup CEO Dan Oliver reacted: “Democrats must be sourcing their economists from the same elite universities President Carter got his. But whatever the intelligentsia pretends to believe, Americans know that raising taxes on work and savings to fund liberal special interest groups such as unions, illegal immigrants, and government workers, will only make the economic crisis worse.”

Since the first stimulus was passed, the government sector has added 100,000 employees while the private sector has lost nearly 6 million workers. Government workers currently make 12.7% more than their private sector counterparts. The federal debt has increased from $9.2 trillion to $13.5 trillion, growing at 16% per year.

Last week Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner called for more stimulus. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke is widely expected to announce additional money printing next month.

Failed presidential candidate John Kerry, the spouse of ketchup heiress Teresa Heinz, recently blamed voters for congressional approval ratings that are at historic lows, accusing: “We have an electorate that doesn’t always pay that much attention to what’s going on so people are influenced by a simple slogan rather than the facts or the truth or what’s happening.”

W Ketchup Chairman Bill Zachary commented: “Congress had better hope that Americans are as stupid as Senator Kerry believes, because the only thing Obama has successfully stimulated is government bureaucracy and opposition to his policies. The Republican Party shares blame for the current mess which is why Americans are self-organizing into Tea Parties. It is hard to imagine anyone new doing a worse job than the incumbents. We hope and expect the results next month to shock the complacent Washington establishment.”
